Tuesday

Tuesdays song

Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day. Huw's knees are
finally working, Everything's going our way.

Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day. Rodger's cranks
have stopped squeaking, Everything's going our way.

Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day. Ian's helmet's
finally flashing, Everything's going our way.

Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day. Sean's legs are
getting quite tired, Everything's going our way.

Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day. Martin's wind is
abating, Everything's going our way.

Oh what a beautiful morning, Oh what a beautiful day. Trevor's creams
now started working, Everything's going our way.

Across the severn

Trev has another lie down!

Just after this picture was shot, a car stopped to ask if we needed an Ambulance!

Our morning routine is not getting any slicker!

Questions about who had planned the route had began to surface

Trev tries for mobile reception!

Day 9

A longer day - 85 miles with the highest climb of the trip at 427m . Wet wet wet - just for a change!

All did well! It was also my birthday & it was great to meet up with my & Ians families for a great evening. Jacqui made the most amazing Jogle cake :)

Tired legs, but going well & we made it into Wales again!

Mondays poem

The cuckoo sang it's springtime song.
The swallows swooped and dived.
The lambs they frolicked in the fields.
'twas a day to feel alive.
But did we relish all these sights?
As we rode from town to town.
Like hell we did, and why you ask?
Cause it was always p#%*ing down.

Let's go

Awsome birthday cake - thanks Jacqui

Generous donations from the Red Lion last night. £165 ! Fantastic pub.

A day of mechanical failures. Sean broke a spoke, Huw lost a tyre to a hole, Rodger's squeeking and Trev's rear mech had problems.

Saturdays song

To the tune of 'heads, shoulders, knees and toes' -

Hands, buttocks, knees and backs, knees and backs.
Hands, buttocks, knees and backs, knees and backs.
And lots of cream to smooth your crack.
Hands, buttocks, knees and backs, knees and backs.

P.S. Many of these Poems (and this song) are penned by Trevor.

Day7

Left the beauty of the lakes - and it was fab. Travelled down through Lancaster to Preston. 77miles - slightly more than planned as we wanted to check out a housing estate in Ashton in Ribble. Rodger is researching Barrat Home developments!!!

Arrived in Preston and toured the city whilst homing in on our Hotel.

Sean managed to break 2 spokes, hastily whisked off for repair by Andy.

Stu joined us for a couple of days. He's doing an Iron Man next month so we showed him how real cyclists do
It - NOT!!

Off to explore the locality for a pub for tea....more later (if we survive our excursion)

Martin

Morning coffee in Ambleside YUM

Trev does Droopy

Not the best start to day 7!

Friday 27 May 2011

Scotland was good, but it's good to be in England (and that's from a Welshman!)

Rodger tries the Highland fling one final time

Trevor finds alternative transport for the rest of the ride

Without his glasses, Martin was struggling to read the road signs!

Fridays poem

Andy the van's a useful man,
He follows us on our ride.
He carries our bags, our food, our drink,
And many more things beside.

He drives like Jenson, through lakes and hills,
Frightening all the sheep.
He books the hotels, and sorts our bags,
Ensuring a good night sleep!

Keep up!

As much as we like scotland, we are glad to get here

Just a quick stop in dumfries

Thursday 26 May 2011

Sean's bored, Ian's about to sing, Trev's wondering if he should jump and Huw already has.

Sean & Ian fall out

Scottish lowlands and some locals

Quick, smile it's not raining.

Day 5

Great day. A relatively easy 64 miles with around 3500 ft climbing. We got to Thornhill and were still dry. One great downhill section - got highest speed of the trip so far 38mph.

1st impressions of Thornhill inn are great - the local brew is good.

Team spirits are good. 1st puncture goes to Ian and Rodger got lost again!

Martin

The team has a coffee outside!

Whilst Ian goes back the way we came for a photo!

Thursdays poem

Just who is Huw, we ask ourselves.
We only have a jist.
We only know his job title
ends in the prefix 'ist'.

He could be a dentist and play with teeth,
Or a chiropodist and tackle feet,
An optometrist who works with eyes,
Or a psychiatrist who deals with lies.

But from days in the saddle, we now have a clue,
And we've put Huw to the test.
He's a cyclist, and do you know what?
That's the 'ist' he does the best.

Trev tries to buy a Ride in the van for the last climb

Day 4

Started well at 6.00am. Had covered 26 miles by 8.30 and 54 by lunch time.

Then the rain started. Continuous for, well hours!

After a tough ride of 82 miles, arrived at the ferry for Arran. The sign was vague - they would review service at 17.00.

The ferry left Arran, tried to dock but failed & went back to Arran.

So, nowhere to sleep. & no food :(. Jacqui came to our rescue ( huge thanks from all the team ) and got us into a hotel near our start for Tomorrow.

Stopped for Haggis & Percy pigs en route. & now checked in. 23.31 and dead beat. Zzzzzzzzz

And his side kick

I need my Mum

Come back

I am Iron Man

It was too much for Ian. He was looking forward to that ferry!

The ferry's coming. Oh no it's not. It's gone. :-(

Wednesdays poem

We battle winds, and rain and trucks,
Climb hills and mountain ranges,
But when we stop to rest again,
The macho image changes.

The phones come out, the laptops too,
They twitter and blog for hours.
The Jogle nerds come out to play!
I think I'll hit the showers.
